Introducing a new series of watches from Oak & Oscar; the Experimental Series! Our team is always pushing the boundaries of watchmaking and watch design, and a few ideas make it to production.

For the first watch in the Experimental Series, you might say we wanted to see how our Olmsted watches worked in the most extreme environments. Like...I don't know...being dropped into a volcano.

These copper, bronze-colored watches are absolutely beautiful—especially paired with our dark green, no date dial. They’re part of our horological journey, and aren’t perfect, but dang it they’re incredible and truly unique! The different surface colors, all due to a chemical reaction, are a reminder of just how cool discovering new techniques can be.

Learn more about the Oak & Oscar Experimental Series

This is the first timepiece in our Experimental Series, where we experiment with new, innovative techniques to play, have fun, and expand our horological chops.

Our watches are hand-assembled, tested, and regulated at our Chicago headquarters by our head in-house watchmaker and Director of Watchmaking, Nathan. We’re very proud to continue the tradition of watchmaking here in the US and are dedicated to the art, craft, and a little touch of mad science that is horology.

Each Olmsted ExP-01 watch includes a 20mm canvas strap, which is tapered and includes an 18mm, heat treated, stainless steel buckle with a tang that is engineered to sit level with the buckle. The buckle is signed on both the top and bottom and has a grooved channel on the underside to allow the strap to sit more flush and comfortably on the wrist. Canvas is a natural material. Your strap will age and develop its own patina over time.

We're doing it the right way, not the easy way. All of those extra steps mean that Experimental Series watches are limited production pieces. Not limited edition—we won't be cutting these off at a specific serial—but we just can't crank 'em out the way we'd like for regular production.

The Olmsted ExP-01 is only available at Windup Watch Fair Chicago July 14 - 16, 2023.

    Creative watch

Heat treating the steel case was a brilliant idea and creates the perfect golden/bronze hue that won't turn green.
